The Bull's Head is best described as a local pub with the usual mix of friendly natives. The pub itself is over 200 years old, but we regret that we have none of the original customers although there are reputed sightings of three ghosts. These are believed to be: an old landlord who drank himself to death and still wanders around looking for another drink; the bastard child of another landlord and one of his barmaids who appears whenever a young child sleeps on the premises; the third is unknown but may predate the pub itself!
Sarah Eldridge, one of the founders of the Eldridge Pope brewery, was an early landlady of the Bull's Head and began her brewing on these premises for the inhabitants of Fordington.
The Bull's Head is now a Hall & Woodhouse pub and stocks the well known Badger brand of beers as well as Hofbrau lager, a genuine German lager from Munich.
We are well known in Dorchester for our excellent pub games teams which have forced us to keep an impressive trophy cabinet!
Our beer garden is compact but is recognised as a suntrap and ideal for relaxing drinking sessions at lunchtimes and evenings.
We also have car parking for up to 15 cars and our skittle alley can be converted into a function room catering for up to 40 people.
